Strut rust

Have a strut that rusted through on drivers side and split. It looks higher than the other. Think welding would be a option to repair? I looked at the control arm and it seemed okay and was told it could cause that or subframe. Any advice would be helpful. I've put over 2 grand into this car over the course of three years and trying to get more life out of it.

What are you going to weld to? Rust to rust welding will NEVER take. That is a MAIN structural part of the unibody and in my opinion, sorry to say the vehicle is DOA.

There's still good metal to firewall and part of clean metal that is not rusted up.

Went to auto body shop and said it would be 875 dollars to repair... Said have to take fender off to repair and take bunch of parts off

You must REALLY like this car. You asked for advice and I gave my opinion of the situation. It's your car, your money and your life(along with any passengers). to weigh on what you decide to do. I fear a lot more rust than anticipated once the fender comes off for repair quote you got.
Good Luck!

I had him look at it in person and looked inside it. He seemed confident in the quote.

Hate to say it but the body shop will do anything for your money. I don't believe there will be enough to weld to, to support the strut sufficiently. I would look for another Pacifica (somewhere down south) to transfer all those new parts to. Ask the body shop how long they'll guarantee the work for. I bet you won't like their answer which I'm thinking will be less than a week.
