Tire Substitution

I have a 2006 Pacifica LTD with 205,000 miles. In the course of the last 8000 miles (since my last tire rotation), the inside tread row of all four tires wore down to the steel belts. The rest of the tire treads are fine. I don't know if the camber is so far off or if the car went out of alignment. In either case the tires were destroyed. I have two questions: Obviously I have to get a realignment, though I fear suspension issues may be the fault--has any one had similar issues?. I can't afford new tires. I can get four 255/60/R19 tires with 80 tread inexpensively. Can these be substituted as a temporary measure for the original size tires, 255/55/R19?

The tires you are looking at should work though they will be slightly taller. You might want to go to Tirerack www.tirerack.com to check the difference in diameter between your originals and those. I would definitly get the alignment done at the same time as you have the tires mounted. It sounds like either camber or toe is way off. How long/miles have you had the tires on your Pac and what type of driving do you mostly do? The reason i ask is a lot of city driving is very hard on them especially the fronts. I've always rotated tires every 6K miles (what use to be every other oil change on some vehicles) but this falls to personal preference.
