What would you do?

Hi all! Question for you. I have a 05 Pacifica with strange binding/clunking noises from the front to the rear. Took it to the local mechanic and he said it was the transfer case $2000 installed. Did it and 60 miles later the noise is back. The noise is a little different but basically the same with maybe the rear noise a little more pronounced. Took it back. Now he (and the local dealer) say it is the viscuss (sp?) coupler $650. Okay, I am upset did the transfer case need to be replaced? Did I waste 2k? The offer now is to replace the coupler at no charge. Good deal? Yes if the transfer case was really bad. No if it wasn't. UGH. Any help would be appreciated!

Have the dealer inspect the front and rear motor mounts. They should be able to tell if they are leaking or loose/bent. $550 to replace both parts and labor. Fixed my clunking problem.

I took a vehicle into the dealer in the late 80's for a clunking noise. After they replaced everything to the tune of $3000 1989 dollars they still didn't fix the problem. It was probably a bad motor mount. I didn't have the internet and forums in the 80's. Keep searching these and other boards and try to have some ideas as to the cause of your problem prior to taking it to the dealer. They tend to replace parts instead of true diagnosis and repair. You can't really blame them. They don't have the time to fuss over your car like you can unless you're willing to pay for a days worth of labor to truly diagnose the problem.

Check Spline Bolts

Did a lot of reading from other Pacifia owners. A lot of instances where their spline bolts needed to be tightened.
