07 2.4L Non turbo pt cruiser Rad Fan inopp
hi i have a 2007 2.4L non turbo pt. we nocited it overheats while sitting for 15 or minutes it begins to overheat. the coolant level is fine and the thermostat works. the fan doesn't kick on at any point. koeo or a/c on even at full temp. the fan was tested by jumping power from the batt and the fan works i can see the 2 fan speed relays on the fan shroud. how can i test these. i would think that if one of them was bad it would still run on one speed unless the temp sensor for the pcm was bad and if so can i just just the 2 pronged connector and the can shloud come on since the sensor works off resistance?? ive also been told that the large connector at the bottom of the shroud is know for corrosion again the fan is fine just will not turn on at any point. if ur driving the car it dosnt overheat just sitting in traffic and idleing in the shop

i would think that if one of them was bad it would still run on one speed Now....Just a quick note...Powering the fans directly is not a "Bulletproof" test of fan integrity. There are actually 2 fans in that single housing, operated by 2 seperate sets of windings.. Just because you see the fan work with direct power, doesnt mean both sets of windings are intact. The fan circuits are also monitored by the PCM, which will set a dtc if the circuit between PCM and either, or Both of the fan Circuits are compromised, but it only sees between PCM and Relays....If you have no C/E lamp on....You can pretty safely bet the problem is after the relays. |
One more detail I forgot to ask you....
Where are you located? Are you outside the United states? Chryslers wiring diagrams say you should NOT have those relays for a 2007. |
i found on my 02 that the plug for the fan at the harness was shorting out. did away with plug and works great. just my experiance
|
Had same issue on mine they replaced the fan at 66000 miles a month later it started again I also found the plug from the wiring harness had a crack so I hard wired it not a problem since 2 years and 30000 miles later.
