2005 PT Cruiser shifter and shifter cable
my 2005 automatic PT Cruiser, the shifter broke where the shifter cable connects, cannot move the cable forward or backward. To eliminate the problem being in the transaxle can I disconnect the shifter cable from the transaxle and if I can turn the shaft that enters the transaxle does this mean the problem is only in the shifter and shift cable?

Basically YES, IF there is no strain against the drive train(i.e. on level ground )

thanks for the help |
additional questions
how do you get the shifter cable off of the connection point at the transaxle, also I have not been able to get the electrical connnector apart at the shifter selector light, the other electrical connectors had a tab to push in to get the connector to separate but this smaller connector does not seem to have any tabs
