Overheating
I thought I posted this already but it never showed up.
Take 2 I have a 2002 PT Cruiser that overheats. After reading many threads, so far I have: - replaced the radiator fan housing - replaced the coolant temperature sensor - replaced the thermostat - replaced the low speed relay - replaced the high speed relay - checked the reservoir and hoses to make sure there is no clogs I should note that when we got the car the radiator fan connector was damaged, so I have butt-spliced (solder) the wires together. I drove it yesterday and it seemed to do well, I went about 10 miles in city (lots of red lights) and highway. It never got close to halfway on the temp gauge. When I got home I let it sit awhile and it eventually got to the center of the temp gauge, but no higher. The fan never came on. I forced the fan on by turning on the AC and it did come on and work (low speed). But I have not heard it come on high speed. When I turned it off, some coolant gurgled out of the reservoir.. What else to check? maybe a new radiator cap? Is there a way to force the fan to high speed to check and see if it is working? |
