P0452 - Evaporative Emission System Pressure Sensor / Switch Low Input

Hi,

I have a 2007 PT Cruiser that has been throwing a P0452 code every since this shop installed an alternator. I kind of agree with them that what they did could not have caused the issue... However, I have not ruled it out. It also throws a P0340 (Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit (Bank 1 Or Single Sensor)). My primary concern is the P0452.

Initially, it would throw the code and act up sporadically. It is starting to happen more frequently and additional symptoms are happening.

When the car is acting up, it jerks and hesitates during moderate to heavy acceleration. It does fine with light acceleration. Turning the car off and immediately back on again usually solves the problems. As the condition is worsening, the car has trouble starting now.

The hesitation and jerking during acceleration reminds me of fuel starvation like from a bad fuel pump, but I'm not sure. However, by turning the car off an back on again makes me think it is electrical... bad vapor canister solenoid, connector or wiring???

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

452 is EVAP leak only not a real gas leak its the vapor from the gas tank used to the engine it ill not affect how the engines runs at all.

The bucking and such is more then likely cam issue at hand.

Thanks Chrysler Tech!

Can a bad camshaft position sensor be temporarily corrected by turning the car off an back on again?

Thanks again!

depends if the sensor is in a good mood or not

OK... Sure seems like the camshaft position sensor. I cleared all of the codes. P0452 was thrown twice tonight. No hesitation at all.

Any solution to the P0452 code?

Still have not solved the P0452. The weird thing is, the P0452 code had not been thrown in a long time. Right after I replace the camshaft sensor (for P0340), it started coming up again. Could be just a coincidence.
