I purchased a 2004 PT cruiser turbo limited edition and I have a puzzling issue it will drive great for 100-200 miles but intermittently upon start up it will run rough and backfire a bit.
I turn it off wait about 5 minutes and its good to go an runs normal when it does this it has the following codes any ideas would be great.
Thanks

P0038 O2 Sensor 1/2 Heater Circuit High

I own the same

I would check and clean connector C103. It's located above the starter mounted to the block. Just about everything it takes to make a motor run goes thru this plug. One thing ez to check is the voltage at the end of the line for the 12v that supplies the coil and injectors. @ the capacitor on the intake manifold. The voltage should be source voltage 13.2 or above and fairly stable. If the voltage dances around it's definitly C103. this will cause a no start condition and/or throw a lot of codes.
access isn't to bad, pull battery reach in and pop free from holder. .If you pull the two mamifold support bolts you can pry it out of the way enough to pull the C103 plug assy. up and out enough to work on it. A good contact cleaner fix lasts about a year before you have to do it again. DO NOT GET CLEANER ON THE PLUGS SEALS, THEY SWELL AND ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET BACK TOGETHER AGAIN. So the last time I did a physical cleaning. so far so good.
