2002 PT Cruiser Oil Leak Advice
Found this forum while trying to research an Oil Leak my girlfriends car has.
She just bought a used 2002 PT Cruiser Touring edition with a 117,000 miles on it. Carfax checked out. Owner claimed to get routine maintenance done but we noticed some oil on the bottom side of the engine when we purchased it and knew it had an oil leak. She wanted to get it anyway.
She took it to the mechanic today to get an oil change, brakes and a check up. Guy said he noticed the leak and that it was bad. About 2 qts down in roughly 500 miles. My brother and I(he's more mechanically inclined than I am) inspected it and didn't see any leak from the top of the engine or the head or anything. Seems like it is on the bottom part. But the mechanic claims he couldn't find it while inspecting the engine(I'm calling BS there, I think sketchy mechanic taking advantage of a young girl).
Any common causes in this year/model? I'm hoping it's a cheap/easy fix as my GF is a college student and can't really afford much after buying the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to put some stop leak in it and see if it at least slows the leak to until we find the problem.

HOw about take it some place and have them put it on the rack and have u walk under to look for yourself No way any one online can tell u whats leaking on a car. and no there are not common places to leak any place oil touches has the ability to leak over time.

My granddaughter also a ‘02 touring with an oil leak, down low on the left front side of engine there is a
transmission control solenoid this is where her leak is. Also there is a transaxle fill hole this is also a spot to look for a leak the fill hole plug gets old and loose and leaks. Check these areas out.
