Still waiting on an insurance determination but I'm not too hopeful. Looking at a couple of 2003 GT Turbo models as a replacement but hopefully my LE is salvageable...

Sorry to hear about the PT. Hope your wife is feeling better.

I am quite certain your PT will be totaled based on the airbags deploying. Question is what the insurance company will offer for your vehicle and what the buy-back (allow you to buy back the PT at the salvage value less the deductible) will be so you can fix it up yourself.

I turned everything over to an attorney the day after the accident since my wife now has a PTSD type issue and refuses to drive, now. Hopefully they will get enough to make her whole and get me a comparable replacement vehicle. This car looked practically new before this happened, had a fresh top-end overhaul, new front suspension, new brakes, etc.

Allstate calls it a total. What they offered on the car was too low, in my opinion, so I talked with the attorney today and told her what I would be satisfied with and she is going to talk with the adjuster. Once this is finalized I'll pull the fenders and hood off and if the frame isn't tweaked I may just fix it minus air-bags (never been a big fan of them) and keep trucking. If there looks like frame damage then I will get another 2001-2003 and keep all of the new parts I've put in it over the past 6 months for spares.

Do you have an Enfrared Thermometer (point and shoot to actually see what the temp. is? If not they start around $23 at harbor Freight. To me it does not seem (if reading it correctly) that any vehicle will go from a high temp. to normal or below in seconds? Might be a good idea to see if gauge is ok? Might just need a temp sensor. best to verify there really is a problem. There are a great tool for your tool box.

Well, I should have read everything, but I'm old and like to get info out of my head before it is lost all together. Glad problem is/was found. Hope you all make out, and the PT's boo boo gets fixed.

The "horns" that the bumper bolts to were "moved over" several inches and a couple wiring bundles got crunched so I decided it was a good parts source.

I solved all of my problems by replacing it with this...
