When should the cam belt be changed?

Hi I hope you can help me,
I am buying a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.0 petrol automatic, I need to know at what millage or years should the cam belt be changed? also should the cam belt kit and water pump all be done at the same time? my other car is a Chrysler Grand Voyager 3.3 V6 and has no cam belt to worry about.
Thanks for all of the great info.
Jason

Thanks

Hi Thanks for that, Here in the UK if the car is over 3 years old you are very very lucky if you get the hand book

I changed one a few weeks back at 197,504 miles. Yes it had broken, but was definitely the original. Seems to answer the "How long?" question.

And, yes, do the water pump at the same time. Kits with pump, belt, idler and tensioner are readily available on US eBay for less that $100.
