****STARTED ENGINE AND TIMING BELT SLIPPED OFF******

Hi there again,:(

I own 3.3Litre Voyager, I turned the engine over today and heard a slip, immediately shut engine off and realised that my timing belt had slipeed of completely !!!!

Could there be any damage to the engine? I did not rev it, just turned the engine, the belt was sqeeling a day or so previously.

Is this a lentghy job, whats the best way round it???

Look forward to hearing from ya !!!

a 3.3 is chain driven not belt driven.

The belt i have in my hand is made of rubber? It goes around about six wheels/pulleys including the altenator? I'm i confused with something else. My voyager is 3.3 2001.

Look forward to your help.[&:]

That is not a timing belt. It is called the serpentine belt and drives all the accessories on the engine such as the water pump and the alternator. It slipping has no adverse effects on the engine per se but may indicate that it needs replacement or that the tensioner needs adjustment or replacement.

Fantastic !!!!

does this mean that all it needs is being placed back on, and it's job done !!!?? Is it an awkward job?

If you are unsure of it's age, I would replace it with a new one. I would also take a look at the belt tensioner (http://www.autozone.com/R,APP771910/...ductDetail.htm) to make sure it is in good shape and working properly. chances are, you have a worn belt but if it just popped off, I cannot help but think it is not being tensioned properly (or worst case, the ac, water pump or power steering are locked up).

appreciate your help and comments !!!

Do you think, the local AA (breakdown) guy would come out to repair it ? I mean just put the belt back on ?
