'01 T&C 3.8 -running hot, no heat, etc.
 

Yesterday, all of a sudden I look at my gauges while driving and see that the van is running hot--almost to the red line. Checked when I got home and was low on coolant, filled and is still running hot today. Also, a couple of weeks ago I turn on my vent and realize that the air only blows when set to max--none of the lower settings work. Worked the night before with no problem. Have no idea what the problem could be there--kind of figured it was all or nothing when it came to the blower controls working. Now today I find out that there's no heat. No hot air on any setting. So, any ideas? I really need to figure this out as it's my main vehicle and starting to get where I need the heat , at least for the kids. Any and all help and/or advice is greatly appreciated !! You may have a stuck or damaged thermostat that is sticking where it likes creating no heat and running hot or the HVAC mode door isn't opening to let hot air into the cabin. For running hot could also be the cooling fans aren't coming on. Your blower running on high only is most likely a bad resistor block.

Drain some coolant then disconnect the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing on the engine. Remove the housing and inspect the T-stat. Many times they come apart. Change it no matter. Costs $10.

To test the radiatior cooling fans start the engine and turn on your A/C. The cooling fans should turn on within seconds.
Let the engine run a good 10 minutes to heat up to normal temp. The fans should turn on soon thereafter.

The blower resistor block is located behind the glove box. Remove it and you should see it right away. Easy change. Costs around $20. Here's how:
