09 town and country rear brake pads
 

Hello, I'm changing the brake pads on my 09 town and country and the first wheel I'm doing (left rear) I'm having a hard time with moving the caliper. tried with a c-clamp and can't budge. Is there something different that has to be done to move the caliper. Don't want to break something by using too much force... Thanks

Na, they should push down pretty easy.

Please tell me you don't have the parking brake set......

The rear calipers screw back in. This keeps the parking brake in proper adjustment.

Replace the rear calipers with after market heavier duty ones. Brake shops that are competent ALL know that Chrysler-Dodge vans are their cash cows. If it's not your pads, then its the rotors, then the shocks, back ones first then front, then pads, then rotors again. The NHTS site has only the replies from "reported" issues regarding the poorly designed suspension/braking system on this vehicle. The dealers will only parrot Chrysler's response - test this by going to 3 dealerships for estimates and you will get a canned responses. I always ask other van owners the same question about brakes, man the look on their face and responses are as though they ate something bad followed by a choice of four-letter words. There are flaws with all vehicles, but in this example you MUST replace all these parts at one time, otherwise you will continuer to wear the inferior designed components and continue down the nickel and dime road and compromise the economies of scale plus the safety of your family.
