1991 Voyager v6 3.0 - starts, runs for some seconds, stalls, will not start for hours
 

Hi,

I have this problem with my dad's 1991 Chrysler Voyager with the 3.0 litre v6 EFI engine. The car starts cold and usually runs on idle for a few seconds - on some rare occasions even for several minutes - then stalls completely and will not start again, typically for several hours from the previous attempt.

If the thing runs long enough to start moving, or at least to give it some revving, it usually stalls out immediately after releasing the gas pedal for the first time - sometimes, it idles erratically for a while before dying out completely. When the problem first started, it was sometimes even possible to drive the car for a while before it started acting up but now it is practically unmovable.

From the check engine light I receive the following error codes: 13 (MAP sensor) and 26 (injector peak current not reached). When I turn ignition on, I hear a whirring sound (fuel pump, I presume) for a few seconds, then a snapping sound from the auto shutdown relay - I don't know whether that just means that the relay is working, or is it shutting down something vital?

So, could anyone help me out on troubleshooting this? The car is located in such a place that it is hard to get it to a repair shop, let alone an authorized Chrysler repair shop - not to mention that since this is an old car, very expensive repairs are out of the question anyway.
