1996 T&C 3.8 Stalling issues PLEASE HELP!

RPM will bottom out and car randomly stall with no idiot lights. Various speeds and driving situations. Have been told they are notorious for EGR valve going out. Could that be it? Opinions please?

any codes in the computer?

Beth Yandell-Johnston 06-06-2016 08:50 PM

None. The fuel filter and pump have both been replaced, as has the EA relay. The mech is looking for a salvage ECM to maybe replace?? I have heard EGR, IAC, Cam, and Crank as possibilities..There are zero signs of engine trouble before or after..

I've heard of the Crank sensor causing your faults as a faulty one at low revs doesn't put out enough output to keep car going.

sensors on the 1996

Talked to a chrysler tech and he swears it's the cam sensor.. Guess we will find out! More $$$ here we come!:(

CHRYSLER TECH 06-07-2016 10:17 PM

a cam sensor would have thrown a code

Beth Yandell-Johnston 06-07-2016 10:20 PM

No codes

What could it be then? No symptoms.. No codes.. Totally random stalls...?:confused:

Beth Yandell-Johnston 06-08-2016 06:00 PM

Well, they replaced the cam sensor; then we drove it for about 45 mins. No issues yet. Fingers crossed!
