1997 Voyager dying
 

I bought this 1997, 3.3 liter, automatic tran, Chrysler Voyager a few months ago. For the first week, no problem.
Then, as one was just driving along, it would just die. All electrical appliances, radio, starter, immobilizer, etc.,work, but no spark to the engine.
Then, let it set awhile, it will restart. But it may go a mile, or ten, then do it again.
Mechanic replaced the cam sensor, no change. Changed the coil (?), no change. Says he can't figure it out and I should get it to the dealer and have the codes pulled, but this would not detect a sensor problem anyway. And, if the dealer fixes the problem, I'll probably spend more than the auto is worth.
What could be causing this problem? Any clues out there?

worst kind of problem.
happenes occasinally, with no rule.

first, try to get the problem codes yourself.

if that does not help, I would start with checking wires from PCM to the engine, especially the ones that run close to the exhaust pipes and around firewall.
maybe even putting a new coat of isolation around them, but try to see that they are not dammaged.

is it stumbling like the fuel is shutting off? or shuts off cleanly.could be fuel pump heating up and shutting down.hard to tell with out driving it myself.moe
