1st gear problem chrysler grand voyager

can anybody help please, i have a chrysler grand voyager 2.5 crd on a 52 plate. I have fitted a new engine and since this it has developed a problem with first gear, when driving in first gear in traffic if you come to a stop with clutch down still in first gear it will not come out of 1st very easy but if you let me clutch up so it takes up load then put the clutch back down it comes out fine???? help please

does this happen in rev too? sounds like the clutch is dragging. which is very common after installation where the disc got bent from not lined up on the splines and forced together or not being paralle between gear box and engine putting stress on the disc

Hi, yes it is also sometimes will not come out of first when driving alsong and wanting to chage to second. When you say disc do you mean the friction plate? Is the correct fix to replace the clutch friction plate? Thanks for the info :)

yes the friction plate. I'm not up on your terminology... I only have a handle on Bonnett and boot

I would echo the bent clutch plate but it could also be

release bearing sticking on input shaft
engine not sitting correctly on mounts or a worn rear/front engine mount
bell housing not mating correctly with adapter plate
something interfering with the clutch fork.
