Bought this voyager but sound terrible when starting from cold and as you see it smokes quite a bit to bit both clear almost instantly.

Any Suggestions?

When cold outside my 2.5 crd gives some smoke after start too, Plus sounding a little "rough" first seconds-minute or so. imho thats normal with diesel engines in the winter

I had it looked at earlier and they recon it's either the injectors or the engine itself. The smoke isn't that bad in the video due to it being mild here this morning but when the temperature is around the minus it's really bad. It has 71000 miles with full history. My last 2.8 had over a hundred thousand miles on it and didn't smoke anywhere near as bad as this one. The dealer got it back about an hour ago to look at it.

I'll try and get a video of mines in the morning, it blows a lot of white smoke on startup first thing, but it clears.
I'm planning to check the glowplugs, then perhaps go down a water/seafoam route to give the internals a good clean.

It would be good to see it

Here we go, this should work.

Quite good of the baker providing the background foghorn.

I'm just getting a message saying "video is unavailable"

Scotsman4th 12-12-2016 02:36 PM

That should work now hopefully, I think I had the link as an image.

steff_1965 12-12-2016 02:39 PM

Still not working for me

Scotsman4th 12-12-2016 02:45 PM

Thought I'd done it public, but it had defaulted to private. That's it public now.

It worked that time. I should hear back about mine tomorrow. The dealer said they were taking the injectors out and leaving it overnight for some reason.

Scotsman4th 12-12-2016 03:37 PM

Is the dealer a chrysler garage? I know from experience how hard it can be to get the injectors out of these cars.
I've a Voyager specific injector puller here if needed.

There not a Chrysler dealer. If they can't fix it then there keeping it and I'll get the Sebring I traded in for it back.

steff_1965 12-13-2016 01:15 PM

Update,

Engine has been checked and it has a damaged/broken ring. I wasn't expecting that from a 71000 mile engine with full service history.

Since I only bought it two weeks ago I'm not taking it back and I am picking up my Sebring tomorrow night.
