Sounds like you lost fluid pressure in the trans. Was there a code named "Loss Of Prime" Does it makes a whizzing noise while it slips?

warmar70 11-18-2011 10:56 AM

no code for loss of prime, it does make a whizzzing sound when it slips.

If you don't get an answer here head over to DodgeForum.com or The Chrysler Minivan Fan Club . There are several tranny techs on the forums.

The whizzing is usually indicative of torque converter malfunction from loss of fluid pressure. It means a rebuild....probably. First thing I would (that you can do yourself) is drop the pan and see if there is any metal in there. Then you will have no doubt.

where do I check manually the oil pressure on a 3.3 engine in a 2000 Chrysler town & country?

Leedsman 08-18-2013 04:58 PM

One assumes you've checked for loss of ATF fluid, i.e. correct on the dipstick under conditions as outlined?

Leedsman.
