2001 Chrysler Grand Voyager SE RG PCM in Sydney Australia?

Hi there,
I own a 2001 Chrysler Grand Voyager SE RG, and the fault code P1684 is coming up and P0601 is also coming up, but not everytime. I read up on this and found that I apparentely need a another PCM. Does anyone know where I can get another in Sydney Australia and have it programmed to my car?. How much would I be looking at?

Hi ajhoward,

I have exactly same codes on my 2003 Grand Voyager. Have you found any source in Australia?

Thanks,

No, I didn't. What I found is that particular model was built in Europe, and the ECU was built in Austria. After speaking and emailing hundreds of people, which I got a few different answers, firstly you can purchase a new unit here in Australia for $1500 and then regardless of which way you go, it will cost about $200 to have the ECU programmed to your car. I found a place called Autotek Electronics, who sold a refurbished ECU for a reasonable price, until I saw this and several others, and quickly changed my mind. Apparently though I was told that this unit is sealed and therefore cannot be refurbished only replaced. I ended up going with a place called ATP Electronic Developments, who have just sent me a genuine unit from there dealer. Send them a email with your ECU part number, VIN number, Vehicle Make and Model and what your asking for and hopefully they can help you too. They did a genuine unit for me for $861.25, which included postage and a refundable surcharge of $195.37 on return of my old unit. They were very pleasant and helpful to deal with. Sorry I took so long to reply, was waiting until they sent me the unit before I made any suggestions. Having said that, I haven't received the unit yet, just sent today.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It is good to hear that you have sourced a reasonably priced one. The dealer here quoted me $3.5K. It is insane.
I've called several sources in US but haven't found one to send the unit here. I was planing to send my unit to US to get repaired but I will follow your route hopefully if it works for you.

Please let me know when you received the unit.

Yep, I will. Don't even bother with the US, they can't help. All right hand drive types have the ECU built in Austria.

Yeah, sorry. I received the ECU, it's a re-manufactured ECU from a Chrysler dealer in the UK called "mopar". I have it booked in to be changed and programmed this Friday. Was waiting until I had it changed and was able to test it before I let you know that it was ll good.

Changed over. Working fine, no fault codes (except p1684, which just means the battery has been disconnected), no engine light and running fine. :)

Hi Hc2003

How did you go?

Hc2003 Sep 27, 2011 06:58 PM

Hi ajhoward,

Thank you very much for letting me know.

I missed the previous message. It is good to hear that you've got ECM fixed.
I'm very busy at work and with kids. I didn't have any chance to think about it.

How much did the service charge you to fit the part and reprogram?

thanks,
HC
