2002 T&C Transmission Problem

My vehicle is a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country with a 3.3L engine. The vehicle has approximately 130,000 miles on it. I don't know if the transmission oil and filter have ever been changed. Yesterday, with no previous problems, a loud whine started while I was driving at about 45 miles per hour. At first I thought it was an ambulance siren. One mile later, the transmission stopped working as if it were in neutral rather that in drive. I stopped the car, turned it off and restarted. It drove for about a mile and then the whine came back and it stopped working again. There are no permanent codes and the check engine light is off. I hooked a scanner up and there are several pending codes- P0700, P0731, P0733, P0734, P0841 and P0846. The transmission fluid is at the proper level. The transmission does NOT enter the limp mode. What should I look for?

The whine is relevant to the speed of the transmission? the codes are gear ratio errors and pressure switch codes Im gonna say U have a bad front pump which means the trans would need to come out

Yes, the whine changes with the speed of the engine. The whine exists when stopped in drive or stopped and in neutral.

This is a follow-up for the benefit of others to see. I replaced the filter and fluid this evening. Afterwards I drove for about 10 miles and the problem seems to be completely solved.

Your trans filter could be clogged. Try to change oil and filter first of all.

Thank you. I was experiencing very similar issues on my UK 2005 2.8 CRD. All of the gear ratio codes plus 0845 and 0846. It would drive fine for a few minutes then gear change problems would start, going in to neutral, engine management light coming on plus an intermittent whine/rattle. I changed solenoid assembly and input/output sensors based on the info I got from the internet/forums etc. Same issues. Changed the filter (and oil) and so far so good. If you look at the Chrysler service A schedule the transmission filter/oil are a none serviceable part! On the B schedule it needs changing approx every 90000k depending on which Chrysler info you read! I bet most cars are probably serviced on schedule A but reading on what classifies servicing it on B I think most should probably be on B.
