2004 voyager a/c compressor not working

My a/c compressor on a 2004 voyager does not appear to cut in, the alt belt seems ok although you can't see much.
Is there a fuse I can check?
Had the a/c serviced last year so the refrigerant should be ok.

Hi there,

Quite a common one this it seems. I believe I have the same problem. If you search the forums there have been quite a few posts.
The main thing to check for is the aircon clutch engaging which I think is where you're up to. There is a relay you can bypass which should force the clutch to engage, this verifies if its the electronics not allowing to to engage (too low pressure, other fault) or if its the clutch itself.

I suspect mine is the clutch as it wasn't recharged regularly before I got it so my suspicion is its ceased up.
Mine's in the garage for major gasket surgery but they are looking at the air-con clutch too so will update you what happens.

Just had a guy come round to recharge the a/c, the compressor just cuts in then out again, and blowing out warm air. the guy says the compressor might be gone. are there any other reasons like clutch or tensioner?

if there is a leak more then likely the oil has also leaked out causing the compressor to run dry

Thanks, so what is the solution, do I have to replace the compressor?

yeah pretty much

I just had the car diagnosed by the Chrysler dealer, they say that the compressor engages but no output. there is no refrigerant and no sign of oil leakage or leaks in the system. suggested 1. probable blockage in system try and blow it out.
2. failing that change compressor.
Obviously expensive options.
Any suggestions on how I can try and purge the system to try and unblock it.
