2005 T&C LX front door speaker replacement

After my spouse's 2005 T&C's front left speaker started rattling and popping during play, I searched online and found very little on replacement options for the original 6x9s in the door. What I did find, however, were comments that very few "other maker" speakers fit. OEMS are available for about $35 each street price, but quite frankly are a relatively low qulaity speaker.
I removed one and noticed the limitations were 1) door cutout is fairly small, 2) depth of speaker cone and magnet must not foul window, and 3) height of stacked speaker options on main cone must not project out to foul door panel.
Wanting to complete the repair on the same morning, I took the speaker out and went to local Walmart to size up a replacement.
My first try was a Sony XS-R6945 4-way 6x9s, which were on sale for $44.88 a pair. Incidentally, they rang up $56.94 and I had to show them the Walmart.com price which they immediately honored.
These speakers literally "dropped right in" with the four mounting screws included (a bit deep, but no fouling). I made a mounting gasket from tracing the speaker outline onto 1/8" closed cell foam sheet to isolate vibrations from door and filled a door gap along the speaker door cutout with a soft foam plug to prevent bass washout. I cut off the mounting plug on the wires and added the included leads, which I soldered on.
They sound great!
