2006 town and country leaking antifreeze

I didn't realize my van had a problem until I had to use my heater for the first time this year. It was only blowing out cold air unless I was pressing on the gas. Then my engine started to overheat. I replaced the thermometer thinking that would solve the issue. My heater is working but the van is now leaking antifreeze really bad. It seems to be leaking on the passenger side. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Water pump leaking. Get in there with a flashlight and take a look.. or a hose. Probably it's better to leak there then to be a head gasket which would be costly.

Keep us posted.

I had a mechanic look at it and they said the water pump and gasket need to be replaced. I was originally planning on replacing the water pump myself, but now that it's both I'm not sure I can do it. How hard is it to replace the gasket and would it even be worth my time to try? Would both the water pump and gasket need to be replaced at the same time or could I replace the water pump myself and then take it in to the mechanic for the gasket? Any suggestions?

Also, it's not the head gasket that needs to be replaced, it's the intake manifold
