2008 T&C AC questions

Van has 220K on the clock and the transmission cooler gave up the ghost. Replaced the cooler/condenser and decided to replace the rear evaporator/valve. Vacuumed the system for 60 minutes, filled with 40.5 oz 134a. At 90 degrees, the system is blowing 69 degrees at idle (800 RPM) and 55 degrees at 70 MPH (2000 RPM.) Pressures at idle are 35 and 225. Our 2005 GC (250K) is blowing 52 degrees at idle and 40 going down the interstate. Our CRV (101K) is blowing 54 at idle. Seems the T&C is not cooling as it should. I drive it in town and do deliveries so it idles a lot. Does the temp sound right? How much can I add safely? Is my compressor going out? Thanks

Just to update. Today I managed to work on it again. Bypassed the heater core, added 2.5 oz of oil, tapped on the front expansion valve, and decided to fill according to this chart...

It is 85F, 75%H and added 16 oz. into the system to get the high side to 300. At idle (800 rpm), low side is 43 and high side is 310 blowing 60F out the middle vent. Going down the interstate (2k rpm) blowing 50F out the front, 47 out the rear. Seems like my compressor is not operating efficiently. For now, 60F will have to do until it cools down. At that time, I will replace the compressor unless someone has another suggestion. Thank you

were the temps good before the condenser was replaced?

Granddaughter fixed it lol

Thank you for the reply. I want to update this in case someone else has a similar problem. I re-evacuated the system and added the 40.5 ounces and still only had 10 to 15* difference between the center vent and ambient temperature. I then added an additional 16 ounces of 134A to get my pressures up to the recommended 08 town and country pressure. The temperature dropped an additional 5° so I was still too high. My granddaughter who is five was “driving“ the van And turned every knob including the zone temperature knobs too hot. I didn’t notice until I started the van and when I turned both temperatures back to cold call mom the center vent started blowing 40° below the ambient temperature. I think one of my blend doors got stuck and when she turned the knob to hi, The door reset and sealed properly. I did not have any problems before I replaced the condenser. I hope this helps someone in the future who reads the thread. Have a great weekend.
