2008 Town and Country Limited Gas Mileage

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if someone can help me out. I just bought a 2008 Town and Country Limited with the 4L engine. We love the van and all the extra options that come with it.

My only concern is with the mileage. I am currently getting 17.5L/100KM (abt 14MPG) city. We do alot of stop and go, but i feeling that the fuel economy im getting is not optimal.

The van just with 80,000KM's (50,000miles) and I dont the previous owner did anything except for the regular oil changes. When I purchased the van I had all the fluids replaced.

Can anyone help me out as to what could be the cause of the poor mileage is and what the remedy is?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx,

Shak

E85 ethanol, E10 ethanol, or straight gas?

Straight Gas. 89 Octane as recommended by Chrysler.

I'm assuming your in the US, so when you say straight gas, that's 10% ethanol or E10.

You're not too out of line for stop and go, mostly city driving. With the 4.0, it only takes a little bit of a heavy foot for the mileage to drop. Remember, with driver and a tank of gas, you're just about 5000 lbs. With passengers or a load of stuff in it, it's more.

The 4.0 takes a light foot on the gas pedal to get near the rated mileage.

You pay for all those extras and the comfort of a large vehicle in miles per gallon.

Fill it up and try to really watch the acceleration and don't let it sit and idle too much, and I'll bet you'll see an increase.

What does it do on the highway at a consant 55-60?

thx for all the replys.

I took it on a long drive at averaged 11.9L/100KMs which is terrific. So it looks like everything is ok.

I just need to be light footed in the City driving.

Thx for all the advise,

Shak
