2014 T&C whining during initial accel

Hi - new to the forum and not handy with cars at all... Any help appreciated!

We are looking to buy a 2014 T&C Touring L with about 38k miles. One issue I noticed that I'm concerned about is that there is a high-pitched whine when accelerating from a stop or very slow up to about 30-40 mph. It does not happen when parked/in neutral. It sounds kind of like a turbo-charged engine, if I remember what our old 98 Olds Aurora sounded like. Any easy answers to put our minds at ease before we buy?

Thanks!
The K-Man

What motor does it have and are you able to tell if from left or right side? A/c on or off?
Need a LITTLE more info than a comparison to an older car you had.

Yes, I'm sure you do need more info! :) It's a 3.6L engine. *Seems* to be coming from the driver's side but that may be just because that's where I'm sitting... Same sound whether A/C on or off. To me the weird thing is that the whining completely goes away after I hit 30-40 mph. I suppose it could just be going out of hearing range...

Thanks for all your help!

Well that is the trans. side and could be differential gear whine. If it were the serpentine accy drive belt that would be more towards the pass. side. But one must be listening and trying to pinpoint what area it is coming from and not just a general observation.
IF buying thru a dealer POINT IT OUT..FIX/or drop price/walk away accordingly!
