99 T&C error code 23 dead tranny
I have a 99 T&C that has a transmission that is shot. The check engine light is NOT on and when I retrieve the code by holding the trip and reset buttons while turning the key to the acc position I get codes 23, 55. Problem is all the code lists I found for 99 T&C are codes that start with "P". The list that references two didget codes says 23 is a bad incoming air sensor, but this is for vehicles older than mine. Can somebody verify this code for me?
I am also looking for a decent transmission removal procedure and I would be grateful if anybody could help me out. |
Hi, blast from the past! I have this exact pair of codes. What turned out to be the problem? Thanks!

I've never found this method to be that reliable on the older models. Last time I had an issue the code bore no relevance to the problem and what was produced when an OBD2 reader was connected.

23 and 55 are old OBD I codes used on vehicles prior to 1996. Your vehicle uses the OBDII code system and as you state they begin with a "P". Stands for powertrain. Why you're seeing what you're seeing is beyond me. Try the key dance or connect a scanner.
23 - Intake air temp sensor high or low (equates to a P0112 or 113) 55 - End of codes |
