Default ABS Sensor - Quick fix?

Recently the ABS Sensor warning light came on and on checking the front nearside I discovered that the sensor wire had split. I rejoined it and it fixed the problem for a while but the light then came back on. I am trading the car in in a few days time and so I bit the bullet and put it into the garage to get fixed. I was told the wheel bearing was away and that the sensor was build in and so I gave them the go-ahead (£177). After the work was done the warning light didn't go off. The garage are now saying that it may be one of the other sensors but I find that unlikely. My question is, this close to the trade in, is there a way of clearing the warning light? I have bought an OSD in the hope that I can clear it. Will this work or is there something else I can try?

I would suggest buying a pair of front sensors off eBay £25.00 for both. After fitting, turn each wheel slowly by hand to make sure they don't bind on the rings. If they do bind you'll need to scrape the rust off the top of each ring otherwise you'll just knacker the sensor.

Almost any diagnostic meter will tell you exactly which sensor is off, as Alan says I'd always [DIY] get both at the same time,, as for what you call an OSD don't waste your pennies, it will come back almost instantly if it is the ABS / ECM anti-lock braking sensor.

Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately I've run out of time and will be trading in on Sat. I'll see what they take off the valuation!
