ac compressor not engaging

my 2003 town and country will not take a c charge, compressor does not seem to be engageing
fuse and relay are good
thinking freon is so low it cant kick on, wondering about jumping the pressure switch to make it engage, and thus take freon, what are your thoughts

If it is that low, then that would mean that you have air in the system, so just forcing refrigerant in would not be a good idea.
Try putting a vacuum on the system and try again to refill it.

The vacuum removes air, but will also draw in refrigerant, so if it is what you think is the problem, that will correct it.
In the past I have used hand vacuum pumps and a LOT of squeezing the damn thing to pump out as much air as possible.
In my area, that was about 16 hg I believe. That number will vary depending on where you are and height above sea level.
Just get out as much as you can. Air in the refrigerant system is a bad thing.
Just get another refrigerant hose and cut the can fitting off, and attach it to the vacuum pump.

Also check the low pressure switch. It could also be faulty.

Likely though, it will be the compressor, but that can be tested by feeding 12 volts to the wire going to the compressor.
That will engage the clutch. If the clutch does not engage, the compressor is the problem.
Test the compressor first.
