Anyone ever diy'd injector nozzles?

Ever since I bought my Voyager, it's had starting issues when the temperature drops through winter.

It's done 150k miles now and I've had an incling for a while it could be 1 or more faulty injectors.

An ex mechanic workmate also suggested injector problems (leaking) as the car produces a lot of fuel smelling, light coloured smoke on cold starting.

So I'm thinking of changing the injector nozzles just to see. Or getting one or 2 injectors from a scrap car to have a play about with those.

Has anyone ever tackled this before?

edted to add, just found a thread where someone tells you how to check for a possible leaking injector I'll give that a go too.

Injector Nozzles.

Hi there fellow Scotsman. Just wondering if your saying Leaking injector is referring to leaking back to tank but per too much leak would cause shut down, as has been found on this forum.
So I take it your meaning nozzle dribble into cylinder. Bit micro machining and grinding these things, not anything you can do. Secondhand would be a very good idea, someone possible paid loads for new injectors then scrapped/accident car. Much do they cost anyway...any idea..

A reconditioned injector I'm sures about £210 on ebay, I've got a price of £30-£40 each for new nozzles (although still to be confirmed).
Tried a large breakers yard a while back but they said they rarely get voyagers in. Plan was to try and get a couple spare and have a play about with them.
It's leaking into the cylinder I suspect, was thinking it would be caused by crud on the nozzle and a good clean might help.

Hi

I got my injectors reconditioned at Kent Injectors near maidstone. They were £90 +vat I think. They refurbish and test in house, you get a printout of the injector performance. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that Rodger, it may come to that and definately cheaper than ebay.

Post 10, worth a try to see if it shows anything.

This link shows the leak back test, not 2.8 CRD but same principle. As I understand it the leakback test isn't definitive proof of what is wrong, its an indicator. I will try and find my post that describes the problem I had with injectors, might help you.
