Battery problems on a brand new vehicle

New on this forum and living in Belgium
Purchased a brand new Grand Voyager SE with auto airco 2.8CRD 2 months ago but already twice stuck with no power on battery at all
First time I had left a power adapter of a GPS in the 12V output on dashboard although no devices connected to it. I didn't realized it was staying under power even when key removed.
After this bad exprience I moved the power adapter to the 12V output still on the dashboard but this time into the cigarette lighter which the chrysler dealer said it was turning off after key removed

The last few days I could feel battery was going down slowly as every start was more difficult and this morning after a night not riding ... nothing...not even starting with battery booster ...

This new chrysler dealer said that those vehicule were suffering quick discharge particurarly when only driving in the evening and because when opening doors and using radio it was not charging while driving or would require very very long drive. I drive 20 miles a day only and often in evening only

Find hard to believe capacity is that poor - and surprise a dealer says not very reliable ...

Have now disconnected all devices and will recharge battery and monitor but weird...
Anyone with similar experience ?

I have the same problem, I only do short journeys and my battery dies quickly, i try not to use electric doors and i always put my lights dial switch down on the dash, as if you just run in a shop and leave kids in car, all intenal lights stay on! that flatttens my battery! they are pretty rubbish, and I have had a new battery, chrysler are not much help! They have totally not been truthful with me!

Not seeing a lot of battery complaints on new US spec vans on several forums. Have your dealers checked for a parasitic drain meaning something draining the battery when the van is off? A normal power drain when the van is off is around 30 milliampres. Much higher than that and the battery will get weaker at a rate relative to the amount of current loss. A last resort option would be to install a battery switch on the battery connection. Once you're done with the van for the day just turn the switch off to take the battery out of the circuit. Here's one example: http://www.jcwhitney.com/master-batt...lterid=c926u0# Another would be to connect a trickle charger to the battery when you're not using the van. Another would be to pull the IOD fuse if equipped. This cuts power to the data bus circuit, the main source of the normal power drain when the key is off. These are all last resort options if you get nowhere with your dealerships.

I'm assuming your batteries have passed a load test. Even new batteries fail.

Earlier vans had an option to either have the accessory power points powered at all times or just when the key was on. It amounted to moving a fuse from one socket to another. May be something in your manual about it.

i dont no if u have the gel battery,but they are usless for short journeys drain to quick

i fitted the lead acid Bosch 12V Silver Car Battery HSB096

never had a problen since,and i can leave all the lights on,gps charging over night,vehicle fires into life 1st turn of key.
