Brake Light on after Repairs.

Hi guys, well normally with an ordinary car this would have been a doddle but my car says its not having it.
Right, work on rear brakes only.
Discs, pads and inner parking brake shoes have been replaced.
Pistons either side were sqeezed in as for new pads.
Brake shoe clearance was adjusted off till no rub, while applying hand brake now and again to centre them.
Wheels spun freely on completetion.
Nice job I thought.
Checked job on a short run. Engine started and oops hand Brake light on even though handbrake off. Returned and finds rear brakes smelling and a bit hot.
So am I missing something here, should I have given more slack to handbrake shoes. Does handbrake switch need adjusting and with light on does it cause a slight auto brake.
Or should brake adjusts have been done with ignition on...
Any idea guys,
Goggs..

Brakes hot after Servicing.

Hi guys, something for me to try tomorrow if I've got time.
Per a thread by Doc on Seized Rear Brakes and other peoples problems.
I did notice that the pistons was sticking on being sqeezed back in and I wondered at the time if I should have lubricated the pistons with brake fluid or brake grease before sqeezing in.
So tomorrow its dissasemby, pump pistons out as far as I dare and before sqeezing back in, lubricate the pistons. then rebuild and road test.
But think handbrake switch needs adjusting as can see the above has nothing to do with it. But where's the switch.

Servicing Rear Brakes Grand Voyager.

Ahh, job finally done. Where were we, Discs replaced, Pads and Parking Brake shoes. Caliper pistons sqeezed in and tested.
Yip, brakes dragging and making heat.
Lubbed pistons with brake grease and brake fluid, but still dragging on test.
Yes you guessed it, as per other issues on here of people getting a dragging brake at anytime.
Caliphers had to be replaced to get rid of drag.
Noticed below piston dust cover that piston was rather rusty looking so looks like these Caliphers have a short life before drag starts giving problems.
Handbrake light not on now, even though earlier it wouldn't go off.
Have never had this problem before in the 50 plus cars I have owned. Way back in Volvo 122, Morris/Austin 1300, etc., days I used to just fit piston & seal repair kits but decided not this time even though they are available. Ah well another job sorted and trusty Mk2 Espace temp retired.
