Can you change the wood door / dash trim?

I don't mean to offend anyone but I'm not mad keen on the wood trim of my Grand Voyager. Is there a UK company that will supply alternative grey / black trim, or that can ovelay the trim with a transfer / sticker?

Have you considered removing the panels and either spraying with a colour of your choice or covering with Fablon.

renfrew999 04-06-2014 01:00 PM

That might be worth considering but I wouldn't want it to end up looking like a bodged diy job

AlanC 04-06-2014 01:55 PM

No reason why it should look like a DIY job if remove the panels first, degrease them and spray with a suitable aerosol.

Hi, greetings from the UK. I just bought a 2009 Grand Voyager and I'm not a fan of the wood interior trim. Are there any instructions on how to remove the various wooden parts?

Thanks in advance!

goggs 06-21-2015 01:35 PM

Are they wood and not just Plastic with wood picture on it like fablon.

It's the 5th generation. I would rather remove the parts and paint them if they're not too difficult to remove.

Make your own Al, secondary school level woodworking. or there are lots of companies that just strip and use epoxy dipping then comb-paint the woodgrain of your choice then a couple of layers of protective finish.

I fitted that wheel to every car I owned in the 60's and early 70's. (pre-Air bag days of course.)

Just click the edit button which only appears on your own post and delete the shxLLN5 image altogether mate then replace it with any comment you like including Ooooooop's.

Many wheels of that pre-power steering era diameter would not fit many current knee to wheel seat adjustment needs. I must add that in my case my now aged waistline would jam tight on a big diameter wheel. You had hair and a waistline as well as suicide doors on that pic Al.

Yes the hair and waistline 'were' all mine, the suicide doors belonged to the Fiat Multipla that I inherited from my Old Man, I didn't keep it long. It was probably the forerunner to the GV, an 8 seater with 2 bench seats and 2 folding seats behind which were just about big enough to accomodate young kids. No room for luggage though and only a 650cc (I think) engine. 0 to 60 took all day!

Here, Here, Here, We are talking about a car that's in every American Film. How many custom shops are there in the Big U S of A... There must be, even Diamond studded ones, Snake and Alligator skin ones. Come on, anyone with money is not going to handle this wheel unless its got that, "Wood look"...

Commonly used as cheepo taxi's in warm countries, it was a copy [ish] and a 6 utility seat competitor to the beetle. I first came across it in the early 60's on my annual Italian week where they used it as an airport and other taxi cab. I know they made a RHD version because a neighbour in Brookfield Middlesbrough also in the 60's owned two and used them for his business.

AlanC 06-23-2015 02:22 PM

My dad bought one in the mid 60's ferry all us kids about. He died quite young and I ended up 'acquiring' the Multipla. I made a few cosmetic changes, the woodrim steering wheel, veneered dashboard and a coat of Valspar mid blue on the lower half, applied with a brush! After putting a conrod through the block I offloaded it and bought a pink Austin A55 for £35 from a local dealer. The photo of the left hand drive Multipla came from Google, mine was a right hooker.

To Captain Chrysler

I modified the pic to give it a grey background, same as the forum pages, but I was probably a little too subtle the first time I posted it. So if you want it, come and get it. :)
