Climate Control

Does anyone know how to put the climate control into diagnostic or reset please? (UK 2001 new shape Grand Voyager - bit like the 2003-2006 Town & Country)

Regards,
Anthony

RE: Climate Control

No aircon is the problem. It could be something as simple as no gas / leak. However, based on previous experience of other vehicles, it couldalso bethat the control needs resetting. On a lot of cars, this is achieved by pressing and holding aircon and recirc at the same time. On this car though, they are on the same rocker switch so cannot be pressed together. Is there a combination of buttons to press that will reset the control system?

Anthony

What is the climate control

May sound like a silly question, but what exactly is the climate control in the Voyager? As far as I can see it doesn't seem to have any automatic function to hold at a particular temperature, ie. the fan speed doesn't seem to have an automatic setting. It seems to be pretty much the same as cars with a standard heater apart from the separate controls for left/right.

There was a reset procedure for the pre-2001 vans that would make the system reset all of its door actuators-- an incorrectly calibrated blend door, for example, could make A/C blow hot, so what you are saying is a possibility with the older vans. As Chrysler tech said above though, the only way you can do diagnostic functions on the new system is with a DRBIII scan tool (even though the controls are "manual" in appearance and the control head doesn't have temp sensors like ATC, it is still and electronic control head.)

Anyway, lack of refrigerant is the most common issue, so the first thing I would do is hook a manifold gauge set and see what's going on with system pressures. You can also sometimes tell if the system is low if the clutch is cycling on and off a couple times a minute (you open the hood and listen for the click and watch the center of the A/C pulley with the engine and A/C on.)
