Clutch replacing sets, which brand?
I need to replace my clutch set and I am looking online for best price/quality and find the price differences are AMAZING!
I find LUK clutch repair sets varying in price from €225,- to €700,- I also find a lot of different brands; LUK, Sachs, Blue print, Nexus.. Cheapest I could find was the NEXUS clutch set: Koppelingset CHRYSLER VOYAGER IV (RG) 2.5 CRD i - de 02.2000 141 PK - Koppeling / Montage-onderdelen For €195,- Does anyone have any experience with Nexus? Can I order this without worries? :) |
When you're flummoxed as to choice, it's been my experience to go for something I've heard of.
Although I've not driven a clutch-car in ages (that is a dry clutch, as automatcs have many wet clutches), I've heard of Ferodo, Mintex etc. In the past I've fitted pattern clutches and ended up with clutch judder/shudder. Also pay attention to the release bearing while everything's apart. Check there are no leaks from the rear main bearing oil seal while you're at it too. Hope this helps your decision Leedsman. |
Clutch Brands
Beware of cheap. Buy cheap buy twice ! Borg warner are pretty good and you get a good warranty with them ( Or used to) Last time I had a clutch replaced was a genuine part fitted by the main stealers £1000 all in .That was a full system up to the pedal.

Well daredevil as I am, I'll try the cheap one .. and I'll report if the fitting is ok and eventually I'll report how long it keep working ok :)

depends on how long you think you may end up keeping the vehicle. Go cheap if you are only planning on keeping it a year, buy a named brand if you plan on keeping it until it dies.
