Coolant fan relay, 96 Grand Voyager
Fans willnot engage, code 35 hi/lo speed fan circuit. Replaced relay, replaced blown 40 amp fuse. start vehicle, turn on a/c and only drivers side fan engages. Blows 40 amp fuse after ~2 minutes. Has anyone got a fix for this? I suspect a wiring issue to the second(pass. side) fan but not sure how to test.

...and now to the stealership
Took it in to the local 'pros' for $92 diagnostic to isolate the issue. More to follow...

Did you ever get this fixed? I am having the same such issues.

Coolant fan fix
Passenger side fan bearing blown. Dealer would have replaced the fan assembly for $415. I bought an aftermarket assembly from the local parts store for $133 and spent a half day doing it myself. As a short term fix I disconnected the harness from the defective fan to keep from blowing the fuse and keep the vehicle from overheating though it did run hotter than normal.
You can, after disconnecting battery power, reach in and try to turn the fans by hand to isolate which is bad... |
