Diagnostic tools?

I am interested in purchasing a scan/diagnostic tool so if/when I have future problems with my Voyager I can scan my system and know what I'm in for before taking it to a mechanic and also should be able to do a lot of the repairs myself. I have been looking on the net and I think I would prefere to purchase a PC based scan tool instead of a stand alone tool, mainly because they are a fraction of the cost of the stand alone items. Any way I have found one which I think would be a pretty good unit/software but thought I would ask here to see if any one else has or have used one in the past. http://www.autoenginuity.com/product...ware.html#EI04 That is the unit and software I am thinking of purchasing.

Yeah that is what I thought. Not sure how good it would actually be but considering the local mechanics "stand alone" scan tools can only read and clear errors maybe it would be worth a look. A hell of alot cheaper than a stand alone.

looks pretty cool, so its 250 for the cable and generic software and another 250 for the Chrysler vehicle specific software? I other words you can use it generically on all 96 and up?

You going to buy it before you replace the TCM?
