Do I need a new Thermostat?
 

Well my 56 (2007 build year?) plate 2.8L oil burner with 83K on the clock seems to not be getting up to running temp as the temp gauge only goes 1/4 up. Has anyone else found this problem? :mad:

Answer in a nutshell, yes you need a new thermostat. Available off e-bay for about £60 or from Chrysler £150 plus.
Well again thinking yours is a 2007, mines a 2003, yours might be different.

I've been looking on Fleabay and contacted some dealers and the ones they seem to have are upto 2006 year! Think they might have changed the design of them from my year maybe???

2.5CRD: if 10th digit in VIN number is "2" , "3" , ''4'', ''5'' , ''6'' WILL FIT

I thought the 2.5 & 2.8 were different for a 2005 but this site in Latvia sell to a lot of UK users and they state they are the same, best to check the VIN and be safe.

2007-2009

The 2.8 on a 2007 looks a totally different [OEM# 68031574AA] item see here at double the price of the '05.

Thanks very much mate for all the pictures and advise on this... What a difference in price it is from the older versions of the same car. I'll be giving JNL engineering a ring on 01276 63278 and speaking to Shawn as they are the main agents for VM in the UK...

I'm starting to wonder if I need to change it now as the Mrs has come back from a few days away in the caravan and driven some 100 miles and the temp gauge in half way up and the top pipe is boiling hot!...

Any thoughts on this one?

Well if temp gauge is half way, coolant in header tank, no leaks, your thermostat seems ok.
