drive position sensor

I have a 1999 T&C Limited with the V6. Recently the tranmission died and since I have over $100k mi I opted for a used transmission. Shifts wonderfully like a new one. Problem is the dashboard indicator that tells you when you are in drive, neutral, reverse etc gets confused and provides an incorect indication of what is going on. When you put it in drive it indicateds drive, but when you go back to park, it looks like you are in reverese..but you are really in park. Not too bad of a problem, but I have determined that the backup lights are also not working. Inspection is coming up and I know they will not pass a vehicle without backup lights. The shop that put in the used transmission is located over 500 miles from home. Any suggestions on what I should look at? Can't afford to spend too much mroe on this so would like to fix it myself if that is possible. Hope this is not internal to the used transmission!

Can anyone out there tell me how the Park, reverse, drive indicator in the car knows what gear the transmission is in on my 1999 T&C? Is there a mechanical switch? If so where is it located?

HELP needed

Could this be a problem with the transmission range sensor? A mechancic has recommended that this be changes for almost $200 and no promise it will fix my problem.

gear positioning N Park

Hi, My 2005 Grand Voyager 2.8 crd with only 51000 miles on the clock are doing the same. I was just advised by my local Chrysler dealership that it is the range sensor. I can tell you it is NOT!! I changed it with a new one last week from Chrysler and it is not making any difference what so ever.

he part was £78 and Chrysler had qouted me over £700 to do the job, that is after they had already flushed the gear box to see if that not going to qeure the problem.

Dit you in the meanwhile resolve the problem?
Duan
