Drive Shaft install on 2002 3.3 T & C
Anybody know what the trick is to getting the right driveshaft to seat into the transaxle? Old axle was broken and came out easily. Trying to get the new axle to seat all the way into the trans has been very difficult. Anyone have any ideas?

Did the new one have the clip on the end. It just pops I. There

Thanks for getting back to me. The new driveshaft has the snap ring in the groove on the end that goes into the transaxle (just like the old one that came out). I can get the new driveshaft in to the point that the other shaft & wheel turns when I rotate the new driveshaft. It just doesn't go in far enough or seat itself. I am assuming that the snap ring may be preventing the driveshaft from fully seating into the gears of the trans. Just a layman's perception of the situation.

I'm thinking maybe the transmission should be in neutral? Does the check pawl or stop pawl (whatever it's called) in the transmission lock the driveshaft? When the right driveshaft broke, the car would roll forward regardless of what gear was selected. Just thinking...

dost not matter u can try and rotate it some but it will still just pop in.

You were right. Neutral...drive...didn't matter. Just had to gently "drive" the shaft into the transmission. Not too hard a job. Van drives fine. Thanks for getting back to me! |
