Default Electrical problems.

Hi guys
I recently had a short drive (6miles) to a local DIY store. The car drove as normal. When I came out of the store the car would not start, a flat battery.
I used jumper leads and it started first time so I tried to drive home but it will not change gear. So I had to drive home in the one gear. 10/15 MPH
I've had to have a new alternator but now my car will not change gear. (It's a 06 2.8 diesel automatic )When I took the engine cover off and the two wires that run over the top and down the rear of the engine are burnt out. I have shown this in another post. I think they might be for CKP sensor. Anyone know why it will not change gear.
Thanks
Adrian

Get the wires replaced before checking anything else. Just got to hope your ECU or gearbox computer is not goosed as well..
