Error codes p1738 and p0740

My car is showing codes P1738 and P0740 at the mechanics. I found the 740 codes is to do with the torque converter not kicking back at cruising speed but i cant find the 1738 code anywhere and the Chrysler dealer i rang said they will not tell me unless i pay $130 odd and hour to pay the guy to look it up. Can anyone here help me?

Hope this will help.

P0740 TCC Enable solenoid circuit electric
P1738 High Temp Logic Activated

If you go to dsmtuners.com they have a listing of the chrysler error codes.

Good Luck

thankyou

Thanks for that, what exactly does the high temp activated thing mean? is the gearbox overheating?
Is it possible for me to change the solenoid myself or does it involve dropping the gearbox?

Unless you are under warranty. It would be a good idea to see a transmission specialist. It sounds like internal gearbox problems and probably is not an easy fix.

need a new converter.

ok thanks. That sounds expensive. So the Chrysler dealer should have told me there was a problem when they serviced it and the light was on. They just said it was maybe an emissions thing in to bring it in when i was in the area next, 400kms away from home

CHRYSLER TECH 06-27-2009 08:58 AM

if u did not ask them to see what the light was they are not going to hook the computer up to it.
Its not up to service stations to tell u everything wrong with your car U drive it u should know when there is an issue with it U let them tell u whats wrong.
Most cases U will need to pay for some one to tell u whats wrong depends on how in depth is needed to find out.

aruninesgirl 06-27-2009 09:30 PM

Thats the problem though, i did tell them the light was on and the car has never skipped a beat. It drives perfectly, doesnt make a noise and the only problem noticable is the engine light that is on. If i had noticed something wrong i would have taken it in

CHRYSLER TECH 06-27-2009 11:23 PM

u paid them to look to see what the light was and they did not tell u anything about it? I would get your money back then

Transmission module replaced

Ok so i got the whole solenoid module replaced, and on the way home, when i got up to 100km/hr the emt light came on again. I got it scanned and the p0740 code (TCC solenoid) came up again. The high temp logic one is gone though.
I have been told a few different things i should do ranging from change the fluid, to replace the torque converter to, change the valve body in case the wrong fluid was put in (only ever serviced by dealers) and it has stuffed a valve in there.
Has anyone heard of this happening before. The car does not whine, grind, clunk, or anything. If the light wasnt on you wouldnt know there is a problem
