Finally success having codes read

I visited a mechanic who has previously fixed my cars and we were chatting and I mentioned by issue with the black smoke and no luck with readingbthe codes. He suggested trying it with his scanner which was a bosch and after couple of minutes it reported 6 faults. Quick thinking I remembered by good friends here and the help available. I asked if I could take a picture of the scanner results and he didnt mind

Does this make sense in light of the thick black smoke smoke.

Here that's an interesting P0403 as too Camshaft sensor as your maybe only running on the crank sensor. P0403 EGR fault will give you incorrect Fuel/air mixture for your throttle (throttle ??) position.
But would have thought black smoke caused by over rich mixture as in leaking injectors. But need to get first two sorted out first.

Here just an idea, check your Vacuum hoses to EGR valve and operating solenoid. How do we check the Solenoid is working correctly, there's a thought, without hearing a hiss from it when engine shut down as reported here not too long ago.

What are the effects of only running on crank sensor without camshaft

There's a good question as I'm going on older Vauxhalls which can run with the camshaft sensor out. It seems the ECU keeps it going on known values. Be interesting to know if its same on this engine. The thing is if cam belt jumped a tooth the cam sensor would ring it up and possibly shut it down.
If you had just headed your thread black smoke we would have been talking other issues. I know its confusing but we're going on your codes.
Hope we get answer to this as its extremely interesting.
