G. voyager 2.8 CRD DTC engine light P0579, P1685, P0740

Hi,

I have 2005 Chrysler Grand Voyager 2.8 CRD and engine diagnostic lamp is ON. I checked with OBD SCAN tool there is just P0740 but when I checked with key dance method there are two DTC P1685 and P0579. When I resetting P07440via OBD scan tool it is clearing after that I am checking from instrıment cluster there are still codes P1685 and P0579. At that time there is no engine diagnostic light.

I don't understand which one is true? OBD tool or key dance reading method? I disconnected battery (-) cable 2 hours afger that I checked instrument cluster error via key dance still alarms on.

any body help me? how can I clear and which one is true?

Many thanks,
Mehmet

P0579 Cruise Control Related Malfunction.
P0740 TCC Enable Solenoid Circuit Electrical.
P1685 Smart Key Immobilizer Module Reports Bad Key Used.

Key dance only tells you certain codes. OBD others.
Need to get a legit ignition key sorted.

Thank you very much for your reply. When the engine diag lamp is ON I'm checking with key dance there is no P0740 but with scan tool yes there is P0740. Why the instrument clustuer is not showing this P0740 error Sorry for my bad English.

Thanks,
Mehmet

Key dance ~v~ Scan tool

The torque converter [P0740] clutch error code might be legacy as in an old and cured code that was never cleared, its often wiring harness rather than real as the PCM constantly reads coolant temp and throttle position to decide on its emissions control. It can also be caused by over / under-filling gearbox fluid

Clear the code with the scan tool, if the scanner can't clear it pull the NEG battery cable for 15 minutes then replace it, then see if the cleared code happens again !

I cleared with scan tool and diag lamp was off. After 20 minutes or 30kilometers it comes again. Same engine temperature same shift, same speed with cruise control when the proplem occured. I cleared 5 times. I will check the fluid level today. What is your oppinion about it p0740? I bought solenoid, filter, speed sensors, ATF+4 oil and gasget so we will change both of them.

Why I can not see P0740 with key dance? I can see and clear P0740 with scan tool.

The 3 favourites are :

- Wiring harness to transmission damaged loose connection, open or shorted circuit
- Torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid
- Transmission control module (TCM)

This is what leads me to suggest the 740 is a code that used to exist or is intermittent, certainly it needs clearing to confirm it has returned after being wiped.

I read many pages on transmission service manual but I did not find any TCC (torque clutch solenoid). There are 4 components on the 41TE transmission.

1) Input speed sensor
2) Output speed sensor
3) Transmission range sensor
4) Transmission solenoid / Pressure switch assembly

so there is no TCC (torque converter clutch) on the transmission.

I think we are using same van if your signature is correct. My van's colour is silver.

Note: If you have transmission service manual pls check them on page 326.

Thank you very much for your reply
