Glow plugs
Are they easy to access and replace?

not bad, two are easy and two are a little bit more awkward, 2.8 is more awkward than 2.5 due to throttle flap.

deep 10mm socket, universal joint and a couple of extension bars help (3/8" not 1/2" drive). Once you get a glowplug out measure the resistance between the top and the body it should be less than a couple of ohms, anything more and then replace it

For one, you will need to remove the alternator and for another you will need to remove the exhaust inlet port... both are easy.
