Grand Voyager 3.3 2002 Automatic Gearbox Problem after oil change
This is probably me just being paranoid but I had the Transmission oil and filter changed today (Not at a Chrysler Dealer), once I picked up the car and selected D it drove away smoothly, I needed to stop at a road junction about a minute later and found although it was still in D it would not move, then it did. Then a few minutes later it done the same thing although this time it did move after a couple of seconds delay.
Problem or normal after a oil and filter change. |
Assuming the fluid level is ok, and its not leaking fluid, Ask the garage what transmission fluid they used.
You must only use ATF4 transmission fluid in this transmission regardless of what any independent mechanic tells you. You can buy it at the dealer. If they've used the wrong fluid the transmission will need completely flushed and filling with ATF4. |

I had a feeling they overfilled it as he said he has never seen a car with a dipstick that has hot and cold and not max and min !, although I did explain to him how it worked. |
Is the transmsisson still doing it after a few days?

This morning it was worse, would take ages for it to move after drive had been selected, so took it right up to the garage, they confirmed it was ATF4 but there was not even a reading on the dip stick !, they reckoned that by fitting the filter it had used up most of the oil !, they added more oil and it works perfect. |
well its bad news i think. got the sump and filter off now and i have loads of small bits of metal in the sump. im thinking that i need a new box
