Heat won't work..

We have a 1997 Chrysler town and country lx van. When we first got it the heat never got warm, definitely not warm enough for winter. And also the blower wouldn't only blow out heat when it wanted to. So my dad wanted tonget it fixed. Everyone was thinking it was the thermostat, so we changed that, and no luck. Then my dad thought it was the blower motor, so he unplugged it and hooked it up directly to a battery charger, and only the front vents had air come out. The middle and the back had nothing. Then he plugged it back up and it wouldn't blow of course. Has anyone had this problem or have an idea on what it could be?

It's a 1997 Chrysler town and country lx v6 3.8L

the air blowing and weather or not its hot or cold air are 2 different issues

It's working as designed. The front blower supplies air to the front vents only. The middle and back vents are supplied by the rear blower. Are you getting heat at the lower rear vent next to the middle passenger side seat? You won't get heat out of the upper middle and rear vents.

If the front blower motor won't work on any speed I would suspect the front blower motor relay or the control panel. Your lack of heat may be a bad door actuator on the HVAC box. Try a calibration procedure. Sometimes it will wake up a lazy actuator. You'll find it here: http://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-ca...formation.html (at Post #7)
Don't do this if your A/C isn't cooling.
