How do I program a used remote on a 2006 TC

Is it possible to program a used remote to my 2006 TC? I picked up one off ebay for $3 that was used on another vehicle. I recently purchased a used 2006 TC that included only 1 remote key and an additional key without remote. Can I perform this feat using the steps in the manual or am I uscwoap? I know I will have to pop out the old key from the used remote and have the key part made to match my TC. I'm just trying to save the $250 for the remote, key cut and programming at the dealer.

If not, can I purchase a new unprogrammed remote from an ebay seller and use the steps in the users manual and get the key cut?

I can't seem to get a consistent answer besides the "Note" in the users guide about not being able to use a programmed remote from another vehicle. The next page in the users guide makes it seem like you can get the remotes reprogrammed for security if you loose one. I seem to also get the idea that if I took the used remote to a dealer, the used remote could be read and programmed into my vehicle? Do I have the correct info?

Thanks for the help, Rich:)

U need a new remote and it has to be the same part number as the original one. Different remotes have different frequencies for each car so they need to be the same or they wont work. Second the skim part of the key can only be programed by the dealer unless U have 2 working remotes on hand.

So my Ebay remote is useless...

What is the skim term mean? Anyway. It looks like I just need to stop by the dealer then. This remote is useless?

the SKIM is Sentry Key Immobilizer Module basically where the key is programed to the car and only ones programed to the car will start it up.

I'm still confused about it.

I'm still confused... I need 2 working remotes to be able to program a new unprogrammed remote? or 2 keys that will start the car? I called the dealership and they explained the part number needs to match the vehicle. This has to be the most expensive and confusing thing I've researched. The dealer wants $250 for the new "keyed remote". Thanks for the help! Rich
